Abstract Based on the couple-stress theory, elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) contact is analyzed with a consideration of size effect. The lubricant between surface homogeneous coated half-plane and rigid punch supposed to be non-Newtonian fluid. density viscosity are dependent fluid pressure. Distributions film thickness, in-plane stress, pressure calculated by solving nonlinear fluid-solid coupled equations an iterative method. effects radius, parameter, coating slide/roll ratio, entraining velocity, resultant normal load, stiffness ratio investigated. results demonstrate that thickness obviously thickness.
